THE ANXIETY NOBODY CATCHES

By every outside measure, you're doing great. You hit the deadlines, remember the birthdays, and answer "how are you" with "busy, but good."

Inside is a different story. Your brain doesn't stop moving. You replay the meeting on the drive home, draft the hard conversation in the shower, and lie awake at 11pm running tomorrow before it starts. Sleep is difficult to come by at times. Rest never feels earned, so it rarely feels like rest.

You've probably kept this to yourself, because nothing looks wrong. Your life works. It just costs more than anyone realizes to keep it working, and lately you've started to wonder how long you can pay that price.

If this feels familiar, you're not alone.

What high-functioning anxiety in women actually looks like

WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON

High-functioning anxiety is the anxiety nobody catches, because it hides behind competence. Instead of shutting life down, it fuels overpreparing, overthinking, perfectionism, and a mind that treats every quiet moment as a chance to worry ahead.

Most women carrying it never consider therapy. They compare themselves to a crisis and decide they're fine. Meanwhile the racing heart, the rumination, and the constant internal pressure keep running in the background.

Therapy for high-functioning anxiety works differently than general stress advice. Rather than handing you another coping skill for the surface, we identify the patterns that drive the anxiety, where they started, and why they made sense. Then we create targeted shifts in how you think, respond, and regulate, so composure stops costing so much.

I Work With the Anxiety That Looks Like Competence

HOW I CAN HELP

License: LCSW, Indiana 34012372A • Florida TPSW6661

I'm Candace, and I understand how high-functioning anxiety can affect capable women in many ways. One of those ways: when anxiety rises, you add more to the plate, because doing more has been how you can calm the noise. It helps for an afternoon, and the load grows.

In our sessions, I bring clinical care through a holistic framework and a trauma-informed lens, drawing on a multitude of modalities that fit best for each individual. I ask specific questions, I connect dots, and I give you honest feedback with warmth underneath it.

We also build safety before we build anything else. You set the pace, and nothing you bring is too much.

What anxiety therapy for professionals can open up

BENEFITS

Every woman's version of this work looks a little different, so I hold outcomes as possibilities rather than promises. That said, when we address the patterns underneath the anxiety instead of managing symptoms alone, clients often describe changes they can actually feel in daily life, sometimes within the first weeks of noticing their patterns.

What the therapy process feels like with me

INSIDE A SESSION

Sessions are active and conversational. I'm engaged the whole time, asking questions that get underneath the surface, reflecting patterns back to you, and offering direct feedback you can use. There's room for humor, and I read the room well enough to know when you need challenge and when you need pacing.

You choose the entry speed. We dive in, or tip toe, whichever you'd like, and we make sure you're in the right window for growth before going anywhere deep. There's no such thing as TMI here, and every emotion is welcome.

Each session moves toward something. We build insight into why your mind races, then translate it into a concrete plan: what to try, what to notice, what to practice between sessions. Depth with direction, so the work goes somewhere you can measure.

PICTURE THIS INSTEAD

Picture the same full life you have now, carried differently. The presentation still gets prepared, without the 2am rehearsal. The quiet moments start feeling like yours instead of openings for worry. Saying no becomes a sentence rather than a spiral.

Many clients describe catching an old pattern in real time, out in their actual life, and choosing a different response on the spot. That's the shift this work is designed for: not becoming less driven or less capable, but keeping your strengths while the anxiety loosens its grip on the wheel.

Life may begin to feel content, not just accomplished. Rest may start to restore you. The version of you that everyone else already sees, may finally match how it feels on the inside.

The understanding clients walk away with

THE AH-HA MOMENTS

The insight itself becomes part of the relief. Somewhere in this work, things start clicking:

Many clients notice the anxiety had a job, and it kept them safe for a really long time

  • Clients often tell me, "I never put those connections together"

  • People sometimes realize the overthinking traces back to feelings that never felt safe to say

  • Many notice themselves catching patterns in daily life between sessions

  • Some realize the anxiety has been there far longer than the racing thoughts

Frequently asked questions about therapy for high-functioning anxiety

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

  • Do I need an anxiety diagnosis to start?

No. Something not sitting quite right is reason enough. Many of my clients arrive saying they aren't sure they're "bad enough" for therapy, and if you're asking the question, that's worth listening to.

  • How often will we meet?

I make frequency recommendations after your intake session. Most clients start weekly, some twice weekly, with a gradual decrease when ready. We land on what feels right for you.

  • How long are sessions?

Intake evaluations run 50 to 75 minutes. Sessions after that average 50 to 60 minutes, with the option to extend when requested or needed.

  • Is everything virtual?

Yes. I offer online anxiety therapy across Indiana and Florida by secure video, so sessions fit around a full calendar, from your office, your parked car, or home.

  • What do sessions cost?

I'm private pay and provide a superbill you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. I accept HSA, credit card, and Venmo. Current rates are listed on the [contact and fees page].
