For the driven professional who's tired in a way rest doesn't fix

The exhaustion that vacation doesn’t solve

You've taken the time off. You've cleared the calendar, slept in, tried to unplug, and somehow you come back just as depleted as you left, because the tiredness was never really about the workload.

You may feel any or all of this:

  • You’re managing a high-intensity job, or the one running household like a company, maintaining a marriage, and still getting dinner on the table

  • You're a C-suite executive, or married to one, carrying the pressure from both directions

  • You're doing everything everyone else needs, and your own needs haven't come up in a while

  • Stepping back feels impossible, because everyone has come to depend on you being the strong one

None of this means something is wrong with you. It means the mental load, the workload, and the family load have been running at the same time for a long time, and something has to give.

If this feels familiar, you're not alone.

What is therapy for burnout and chronic stress?

IT'S NOT ABOUT DOING LESS

Most burnout advice says the same thing: cut your workload, take a vacation, learn to say no. If that worked, you wouldn't still be tired.

Burnout therapy looks underneath the schedule, at the internal drivers that keep it running even when the calendar clears: pressure, perfectionism, and a sense of responsibility for things that were never fully yours to carry. Those drivers persist regardless of how much you cut, because they aren't about the workload. They're about what the workload has come to mean.

This work identifies where those drivers started and why they made sense at the time, then builds a genuinely sustainable way of operating, not just a lighter version of the same pattern.

How I support burnout recovery in Indianapolis

THE APPROACH BEHIND THE PLAN

License: LCSW, Indiana 34012372A • Florida TPSW6661

I'm Candace, and I understand how burnout can affect capable women in ways. One of those ways: your calendar clears, and your mind doesn't. The urgency fades, but the internal pressure that built it stays fully online.

I bring clinical care through a holistic framework and a trauma-informed lens, tailored to you rather than one-size-fits-all. I ask specific questions, connect the dots between the pressure you feel now and where it started, and give you honest feedback because your time matters and you're ready for something to change.

We build safety at your pace before we go anywhere deep. Nothing about your exhaustion is treated as failure. It's an adaptation that made sense, and adaptations can be updated.

What burnout counseling for professionals can open up

SIGNS OF SOMETHING EASING

Every client's experience of this work looks a little different, so I hold outcomes as possibilities, not promises. That said, when we address what's driving the burnout instead of just the schedule around it, clients often notice real shifts, sometimes within the first weeks of naming their pattern out loud.

Real clarity

You may notice mental fog beginning to genuinely lift.

Boundaries that hold

Saying no may start to feel possible, not risky at all.

A sustainable pace

Some clients feel steadier without pushing harder.

What to expect in burnout therapy sessions

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS HERE

Sessions are active and structured. I ask direct questions, reflect the patterns I hear back to you, and offer honest feedback you can actually use, because you're goal-oriented and nod-along therapy hasn't worked before. There's room for lightness when it helps, and just as much room for quiet when that's what you need instead.

You set the pace. We build understanding of what's driving the exhaustion, then translate it into something concrete: what to try, what to notice, what to shift this week. Depth with direction, so every session moves you somewhere you can measure.

Life beyond just pushing through

A DIFFERENT KIND OF TIRED

People usually come focused solely on managing their symptoms better. But the solutions go much deeper.

You don't have to become less capable, less responsible, or less driven to feel better. The goal isn't a smaller you. It's the same strength, carried differently, with room in it for your own needs alongside everyone else's.

Many clients describe regaining clarity and energy they thought was simply gone, along with boundaries that protect their peace without dismantling their career. Some notice they've stopped automatically absorbing everyone’s emotions. A concrete plan replaces the vague sense that something has to change.

Balance across the loads you carry may start to include space for yourself inside it.

What often clicks for clients here

WHERE IT STARTS TO MAKE SENSE

The insight itself is often part of the relief. Somewhere in this work, things start clicking:

  • Many clients realize the exhaustion was never a productivity problem

  • Clients often tell me they've been adding more to their plate to feel less anxious, and it only made things worse

  • People sometimes notice they say yes automatically, before they've even considered saying no

  • Many connect today's burnout to always having been the strong one, going back further than they expected

  • Some realize the over-achieving pattern has been there the whole time

Frequently asked questions about burnout therapy

BEFORE YOU BOOK

  • How is this different from just taking a break?

A break addresses the workload. This addresses what's underneath it, the pressure, perfectionism, and responsibility that rebuild the exhaustion even after rest. You don't have to know exactly why it keeps coming back; that's what we work out together.

  • Do I need to be in crisis to start?

No. If your calendar looks fine but you're running on empty, that's reason enough. You don't have to hit a breaking point to ask for support.

  • How often will we meet?

I make frequency recommendations after your intake session. Most clients start weekly, some twice weekly, with a gradual decrease when ready.

  • How long are sessions?

Intake evaluations run 50 to 75 minutes. Sessions after that average 50 to 60 minutes, with the option to extend when needed.

  • Is this available virtually?

Yes. I offer online burnout therapy across Indiana and Florida by secure video, so sessions fit into a full calendar instead of adding to it.

  • What does it cost?

I'm private pay and provide a superbill you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. I accept HSA, credit card, and Venmo. Current rates are listed on the [contact and fees page].
